1. BlackBerry Firewall configuration

Before installing gvSIG Mini you must consider configuring your BlackBerry security policy.

You should have your BlackBerry Firewall enabled, to check this requirement, follow this instructions from your BlackBerry main screen:

  • Press the Menu key.
  • Press the Settings icon.
  • Go to Security Options.
  • Go to Firewall
  • Set Status to Enabled

2. OTA installation (Over-the-air)

You can download and install gvSIG Mini directly from your phone's web browser via this web: http://m.gvsigmini.org

3. Manual installation

If you do not have Internet connection or your BlackBerry doesn't allow OTA installation you can proceed with the manual installation of gvSIG Mini.

You can download latest gvSIG Mini binary files (jad, jar and cod files) from your PC and transfer them to your phone via Bluetooth or copying the files to the SD card. Once the files have been copied you should access the gvSIGMini jad file from your phone and by clicking it the installation should start.

Check the Download section to get the latest gvSIG Mini binary builds.

4. Configuring gvSIG Mini permissions

You should give gvSIG Mini permissions to HTTP and file connections. To check this requirement, follow this instructions from your BlackBerry main screen:

  • Press the Menu key.
  • Press the Settings icon.
  • Go to Security Options.
  • Go to Application permissions
  • Set the focus over 'gvSIG Mini' and press the Menu key
  • Click on o*Edit permissions*
  • You should set to Allow Connections and User Data
